VETERANS ASSOCIATED WITH (BUT NOT CREW-MEMBERS OF) HMS TETCOTT

Throughout the course of our research - the publication of the book, the reunion and the website - we have been fortunate to be contacted by numerous veterans who, although not members of HMS Tetcott, have close associations with her or with Hunt-class destroyers.

 George DREWITT

HMS Aldenham & HMS Brocklesby

Recalls being on convoy escort duty with HMS Tetcott

 John MORTON

HMS Croome (August 1942 - March 1944)

John remembers vividly the occasion when U-372 was sunk - Croome and Tetcott had taken over the attack from Sikh and Zulu who had expended their depth charges.

 Richard "Dick" SPRAGS

HMS Belvoir (June 1942 - December 1943)

Joined the RNZN in late 1941, seconded to Royal Navy in January 1942. ‘Adopted’ by Tetcott veterans at the reunions of the 1st Destroyer Flotilla Association!

 W G "George" STUART

HMS Brocklesby

Throughout our research has offered encouragement and enthusiasm as well as wonderful memories and anecdotes

 Edward J WARREN

Edward took passage along with five other ‘Sparks’ on HMS Tetcott for the six-week voyage from the Clyde to Simonstown in 1942 – all of them sharing the wireless cabin. Edward's main recollection of the voyage is being sick for the first three days!

Phil WILCOX

Was serving in SS Ocean Vintage when it was torpedoed at the entrance to the Persian Gulf. After a couple of days, HMS Tetcott arrived to transport the survivors to Aden - Phil recalls the crew looked after them very well.
